Don’t you remember it?
Don’t you remember those nights snuggly cuddling under a large fluffy & furry blanket that seemed to fit the entire family?
And that popping sound in the microwave, the buttery smell that filled the entire kitchen and living room, the 2-minute popcorn that was the perfect prologue to the epic movie night.
Growing up, that’s how every Sunday night was at my house.
We would make a hearty family dinner, probably a red-sauce Penne pasta, to eat in a bowl as we would get ready to cuddle under our grey velvet blanket with the lights off…
“I can’t imagine… that anybody could be doing more.”
Sounds familiar? That was Dr. Anthony Fauci’s statement regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a general fact-based statement. And it has been tweaked to sound like he’s promoting Trump.
It was taken out of context. No facts, just opinions. Out of context opinions.
That was the crux of the controversial campaign advertisement that eventually led to a Twitter war.
This is just what our beloved news anchors and newspaper headlines do. They create un-checked and out-of-context pitch lines to grab the viewer’s attention.
Polarizing, irrational, conservative, liberal — it’s heartbreaking how…
The chill of a monsoon breeze prompts for a hot cup of tea in hand. It’s time for you to pull out your light North-Face jacket or soft Pashmina shawl.
A pastel cotton dress and a pair of sunglasses is perfect for getting some vitamin D on a hot sunny day.
Naturally, the external climate prescribes how we typically dress.
However, ironically, wearing a blazer to work in the 50°C New Delhi heat seemed oddly normal; some of my female colleagues would even carry a shawl to the workspace in the peak of summer.
It is a conundrum waiting to…
“We’ll never be royals, royals… la la la… you can call me queen bee,” I walk into my restroom singing a throwback Lorde song stuck in my head. I’ve just come back from a rejuvenating 5km long run. Ready for a nice hot shower. I chose a fun playlist to get ready to. Or at least that’s what I thought I was doing.
I take my earphones off, undress, and two seconds later… I hear the flutter of wings and see something move in my peripheral vision. The only logical thing for me to obviously do next is...
Seeing garbage mountains pop up all over the country, we really should be taking waste pollution more seriously. The Ghazipur landfill in Delhi opened in 1984 and is almost as tall as the Taj Mahal!
As the world is taking steps and coming up with unique policy initiatives to reduce and reuse their country’s plastic waste, it’s time for us to learn from them and try to replicate some of these policies. Let’s prevent creating a rubbish mountain range as enormous as the Himalayas.
After ample research on this topic, I’ve shared what I’ve learned and what I feel the…
Why is a female spinster considered negative, but a male bachelor portrayed as cool? Why do we tell our women that it’s time to get married in their 20s, but our men to be follow their career first and be successful? And are these issues still prevalent in our larger metro cities?
Men are told to dream big, be ambitious, and soar high as CEOs and world leaders. But in the words of Daya:
“Oh, I don’t know what you’ve been told
But this girl right here’s gonna rule the world
Yeah, that’s where I’m gonna be, because I wanna be
While I sit quarantined in my room, away from the rest of my family, I decided to write a fun and light-hearted Covid-19 song. The credits go to my sister for this adaptation. She started singing “Corona-na-na-na” to the tune of Havana at the beginning of the global pandemic in March 2020.
As the number of cases in my hometown (Delhi-Gurgaon) surge, and as I sit alone after testing positive, this version of the song chorus is repeatedly playing in my head. And I couldn’t help but adapt all the lyrics to the song into a (funny?) Corona-themed anthem.
If any of you have been to Gurgaon and heard of DLF, you must have heard of the prestigious Aralias, Magnolias, and upcoming Camellias complexes on Golf Course road. Overlooking the lush green golf course and Aravali range, these seem like a true luxurious getaway separate from the rest of Gurgaon. It is uncanny that such rich flora and fauna, as you see here, would be amidst the concrete jungle of corporate Gurgaon.
As beautifully designed and landscaped as these buildings are, there is one design element that has always confounded me - the balcony of the DLF Magnolias duplex…
A multitude of faces just rushing to the same monotonous routine; we complained about the commute over coffee.
A colleague always wanted to chat or pulled me in to take a break right when my focus peaked. These little disturbances that were earlier a reason to complain might be what we miss most about the workplace.
When lockdown first happened and all was remote, I was intrigued about how it will all pan out. To my surprise, I was uber-productive my first month in (I was someone who rarely took advantage of the workplace flex policy of wfh). …
There is racism prevalent all around the world (conscious and subconscious), and people can’t get to their loved ones due to the travel restrictions. Personally, I am going crazy after just one month of working from home.
My friends and I have been getting by and getting the connection we need by playing a game of Skribbl at night (online Pictionary) and sharing Instagram viral ‘draw a carrot’ posts. Even in the work slack channels, we are trying to lighten the mood by having Virtual Coffee Catchups and sharing childhood photos of one another.
